A Plan-Generation-Evaluation Framework for Design Space Exploration of Digital Systems Design
نویسندگان
چکیده
Modern digital systems design requires us to explore a large and complex design space to find a best configuration which satisfies design requirements. Such exploration requires a sound representation of design space from which design candidates are efficiently generated, each of which then is evaluated. This paper proposes a plan-generationevaluation framework which supports a complete process of such design space exploration. The plan phase constitutes a design space of all possible design alternatives by means of a formally defined representation scheme of attributed AND-OR graph. The generation phase generates a set of candidates by algorithmic pruning of the design space in an attributed ANDOR graph with respect to design requirements as well as architectural constraints. Finally, the evaluation phase measures performance of design candidates in a pruned graph to select a best one. A complete process of cache design is exemplified to show the effectiveness of the proposed framework. key words: design space exploration, plan-generation-evaluation framework, graph pruning, attributed AND-OR graph

متن کاملA Lean Manufacturing Roadmap for an Automotive Body Assembly Line within Axiomatic Design Framework
In this paper we are to present a practical application of Axiomatic Design (AD) methodology, as a roadmap to lean production, in redesigning a car body assembly line. Axiomatic Design theory provides a framework to simplify the whole problem. According to the AD principles, a hierarchical structure has been developed. The developed structure originated in lean manufacturing principles and exis...
متن کاملA Mapping Framework Based on Packing for Design Space Exploration of Heterogeneous MPSoCs
The computational demand of signal processing algorithms is rising continuously. Heterogeneous embedded multiprocessor systems-on-chips are one solution to satisfy this demand. But to be able to take advantage of these systems, new strategies are required to map applications to such a system and to evaluate the systems performance at a very early design stage. We will present a framework for st...
